the new mercury rev

is so much better than it has any right to be.
i mean, shouldn't the trajectory indicated by the last couple of albums have them most of the way into steely dan territory by now?

not sure if you saw my belated comment on the earlier post, but i liked the new rev on first listen. haven't really tried to digest it since, but its good.

i also liked secret migration for a while -- i think the arrangements have kept moving in a dancy direction that works for them, plus his vocals were synth'd out and softened on this new one, which has needed to happen from the beginning, so... all in all... they're up
