and don't tell me I'm wrong.
at wonder ballroom the other night they eclipsed all my other favorite shows from this year. !!!, Battles, Built to Spill and Death Cab all played flawless sets, but Deerhoof has a combined level of precision and energy none of them really matched. at least this week, they did. I have enjoyed them live before, but ed rodriguez fills them out again and all the material from apple-o to today sounded so perfect. i don't know how many shows they've played with him, but he really gelled fast.
listening to tracks from the new one today and falling in love for the fourth of fifth time with them. what do yall think of the hoof?

here's a deep, dark secret about me:
i don't like deerhoof.
don't ask me why. i cannot explain it. i like all the ingredients, but can't get down with the dish.
but, in the same breath, the dinner i'm having tonight is ore'ida tater tots and van de kamp's battered fish portions. so it's not like i have impeccable, unimpeachable taste...
They're playing Slowdown in Omaha on the 13th. I want to go but I just don't think I'm going to make it.
But, yeah, hey, if you have any leftover fish portions, I'm not starving or anything but...you know...I could probably down a couple if it's all the same to you.
i ate all of the portions i cooked, but they come ten to a box so if you've an oven you're set.
the box says not to use a microwave.
i must warn though, after eating them, i feel kind of like th fish is lodged immobile in my solar plexus somewhere...kind of the same as when you eat a steak and it feels like the beef will never ever leave your body.
I thought you might not be a fan. I really hated them when matt introduced them. I felt their choices were indulgent at best and at worst too frequently abrupt to be readily enjoyable.
but as I digested the runners four and apple-o I realized they were actually influencing me greatly.
our frozen fish quota for the week was met by monday night... we had brie and bread with salad, guac and chips. not a real food on the table, but SO delicious.
after retiring a crappy toaster that we had for eight years and only ever had one setting (burnt), we bought a toaster oven when we moved down here. it's great for those meals when you don't want to pull out a baking sheet and wait for the oven to warm up. if i ate fish sticks, i'm sure the toaster oven would make it that much better.
i concur with katie on the toaster oven - it makes a mean toaster strudel. and jake, tell me you dunked those motherfuckers in tarter sauce. the fish sticks... not the tater tots.
sadly no, i am averse to tartar sauce.
becky's boy was raised on ketchup lk a good american...
